Vance Mangum's Athame

Have you ever wondered what Vance's athame might look like?  Well here you go, courtesy of
I was so excited when Laramie came to me and said he was going to make a knife to go with my books.  He said he'd found a special piece of metal that he wanted to use for it and he set out to make a custom design for me.  I knew he did great work because I've had the opportunity to see some of his other show pieces.  They tend to get bought for a LOT of money!  One of the interesting things about Laramie's work is that he often recycles materials to work with.  He does some scouting and hiking about in the woods and comes up with old deer antlers to use as handles or interesting pieces of wood, like the knot this knife is resting on.
So can you tell what's recycled on this knife?
If you guessed the blade, then you would be correct.  The blade for this knife was made from a very old, rusty chainsaw blade which helps to give it that lovely patina.  I think Laramie tagged Vance's style right on since Vance likes to take things that are vintage and upgrade them to something new, like he does with his motorcycle.
So, thank you Laramie for the awesome athame!  I love it and I will display it proudly.

Did I mention he makes lightsabers too?

Or that he wins contests dressed as Darth Maul?

What A FUN GUY!

@Val I know! I love it! I don't have it in my physical possession yet, he sent me this pic in a text. I can't wait to get my hands on it! LOL
